Description of Show:

“Impressions” is a small gallery of plein air gouache and oil paintings by Tiffanie Mang created during her travels around California and Europe. In each painting, she seeks to express the raw emotion of the subject matter through the boldness of dynamic brushstrokes that capture the energy of the view in front of her. Her goal is not to record what she literally sees; she seeks to capture the essence-the fleeting impression- that the landscape embedded in her when she first connected with the sight.

Bio:

Tiffanie Mang is an illustrator and plein air artist born and raised in San Diego. She studied at the University of Southern California, graduating with a BA in Animation and Digital Arts. Aside from working in the animation industry as a freelance concept artist, her biggest passion is plein air painting and painting landscapes in oils. She loves to explore the possibilities of how she can use this skill as well in digital media, animation and film.

In 2016, Tiffanie worked as a painter animator on Loving Vincent, a 2018 Oscar nominee for Best Animated Film. Loving Vincent is the world’s first fully hand painted feature film about the life of Van Gogh and his mysterious death, animated entirely in oil paints. Flying over to Gdansk, Poland to take an animation test in May, Tiffanie worked on the film for 6 months after passing testing and training. It was an absolutely incredible experience that changed the direction of her life and what she wanted to pursue. Being surrounded by so many talented international fine artists, Tiffanie knew that when she went back to the states, she had to somehow pursue her passion for fine art more and make it a reality.
